Strong interest in Soviet Russia and post-communist states. Linked with architecture, and attraction to strong, regular forms, can only give out something like this.
I was strongly influenced by the communist architecture, as I have spent about 12 years in one of them. [They're not as scary as they look]. But yeah, I guess it was kind of a journey into the past as well as the visual excitement of the subject. This is pretty much what started my whole cold-war-atmosphere in later work, like in the 'Longing' project - even though it has nothing to do with USSR, there is still this feeling to it.
Coming back to The Red Form, I wish I was lucky enough to have taken photographs of current Poznań and maybe move forward with the project, by showing the differences between the past and present. Maybe I'll come back to that.
Republic, republic...
